DELEC introduces belt-pack interface / oratis port for up to 8 party-line terminals

San Francisco, October 2012: DELEC, the intercom experts of the SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP, introduces at this AES Convention its new IF8 PL party-line interface for connecting belt-packs to oratis intercom systems. The plug-in board is capable of establishing up to eight single-channel or four dual-channel connections.
The IF8 PL supports all major belt-pack devices and can be configured for Audiocom, Clearcom, and RTS products. The party-line interface also decodes and generates product-specific signalling commands such as “DC Call” (Clearcom) or “Call” and “Mic Kill” (RTS). Standard 2-wire or 4-wire operation is also possible.
The interface also supplies power to one belt pack per channel. Another special feature of the IF8 PL board is an empty slot for an optional DSP. This enables audio-processing to be integrated such as dynamics, EQs or Ambient Noise Sensing.
“With our new matrix board, the customer saves the cost of a 4-wire to 2-wire converter,” says DELEC sales engineer Jürgen Malleck. “The party-line interface is an attractive and cost-efficient solution for simple talk / listen lines.”
DELEC is using this year’s AES Convention as a key event for introducing a stack of new products. In addition to the party-line interface, these include the new Dante™ interface and cooperation with Audinate, full-HD video streaming to commentary systems, and a new partnership with INTRACOM, which enables smart phones to be connected as virtual subscriber units in DELEC intercom systems. Please refer to our other press releases for more information.

About oratis
oratis is a top tier intercom system. It is based on current FPGA technology and offers unique flexibility and future-proofing combined with DELEC’s renowned high reliability.
oratis can be used to create compact intercom systems featuring as few as eight ports to larger installations with more than 4,000 ports accessible simultaneously. The system employs the distributed intelligence principle. This guarantees fast response times even on large systems, while ensuring confidence and security. oratis acts as a fully summing digital audio matrix.
oratis intercom systems include three basic components: one or more matrix frames, various matrix cards, and the subscriber panels connected to them. The quantity and configuration of components are freely definable, enabling the oratis to adapt to a multitude of applications.
Perhaps more fundamentally, all components of an oratis installation are networked using managed Gigabit Ethernet. This means that no extra wiring is needed or multi-core cables. This infrastructure is usually installed as standard in modern buildings. Gigabit Ethernet lines and ordinary Gigabit Ethernet routers and switches are perfect for setting up an oratis system.

About the oratis Commentary System:
The oratis commentary system is based on matrix frames which act as audio hubs and incorporate various slot-in cards. They manage all audio signals required by the commentator and forward the commentary signal to the relevant broadcaster.
The commentator uses a COM3 commentator terminal, which is connected over a Gigabit Ethernet line to a commentary card in the matrix frame. With this strategy, essentially the connections to and from all sources and destinations are extended through the fibre-optic network into the commentary booth. Thus, it is possible to monitor or mix any audio signal immediately at the commentary position.
